About
Radically Decent is the consulting practice of Jesse Rhodes, a senior infrastructure and DevOps engineer based in Rotterdam.
Fourteen years at Dell EMC, most of it inside the Isilon (later PowerScale) division. The brief shifted often: VMware design and migrations, Puppet config management (and later Salt), vSAN architecture, package pipelines, Infoblox administration, the internal wiki, and Python and Bash tooling wherever gaps appeared. In the last year or two, leading the internal rollout of AI coding assistants and evaluating self-hosted models for code review.
The consulting practice opened in early 2026, working with Dutch and EU clients on a contract or interim basis. Usually remote, with hybrid options in the Randstad.
Separately, a small research track (Sentient Stage) works on real-time adaptive visual systems for live music venues.
How I work
One engineer, one contract. No handoffs to a delivery team or outsourced implementation.
Recommendations are straight. If an off-the-shelf product does the job, I'll say so before bidding on a custom build.
Whatever gets built is documented so it still makes sense after the engagement ends.
